1. What this policy covers
This Cookie Policy explains how Web Invitations ("Web Invitations", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, and how you control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with personal data more generally.
2. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a site stores on your device so it can recognise you on your next request. We also use browser storage — localStorage and sessionStorage — which works the same way in practice: data saved by the site, readable by the site, kept on your device. Where this policy says "cookies", it means both.
3. Cookies we use
Strictly necessary. These make the site work and cannot be switched off. They keep you signed in between page loads, remember your language, hold your invitation draft while you edit it, and record your answer to the cookie banner so we stop asking. No consent is required for these, because the site cannot function without them.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which designs and pages get used, so we can improve them. These cookies are set only if you accept them, and rejecting them changes nothing about how the site works for you.
Payment. When you check out, Paddle.com Market Ltd. sets its own cookies as merchant of record, to process the payment and prevent fraud. These are necessary to take payment, and Paddle's own cookie and privacy notices govern them.
4. What each cookie is for
- Firebase authentication tokens — keep you signed in. Strictly necessary. Typically expires after an hour, and refreshes while you stay signed in.
- Language preference — remembers which language you chose. Strictly necessary. Persists until cleared.
- Invitation draft — keeps your work-in-progress so a refresh does not lose it. Strictly necessary. Persists until you publish or clear it.
- Cookie consent — stores your answer to the banner. Strictly necessary. Persists until cleared.
- Upload acknowledgement — remembers that you confirmed your image rights, so we ask once rather than before every photo. Strictly necessary. Persists until cleared.
- Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) — distinguishes visitors and sessions for usage measurement. Analytics, consent required. Typically expires after up to two years.
5. Your choices
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Nothing beyond the strictly necessary is set until you answer, and choosing to reject is as easy as accepting. Your answer is remembered on that browser.
To change your mind, clear this site's cookies and site data in your browser settings and reload the page — the banner will ask again. You can also block or delete cookies entirely through your browser, though blocking the strictly necessary ones will sign you out and may lose an unsaved draft.
Withdrawing consent stops any further analytics events. It cannot retroactively delete data already collected, or remove cookies already set on another company's domain — those expire on their own schedule, or can be cleared from your browser.
6. Third parties
Cookies set by Google (analytics and authentication) and by Paddle.com Market Ltd. (payment) are governed by those companies' own policies, which we do not control. Their current notices are published on their websites.
